Blog: #EXODUS - Tracy Gillman

In the 1970's Augusto Boal's theatre company http://www.theatreoftheoppressed.org/en/index.php?useFlash=0 took part in a collaboration in which children were given cameras and asked to photograph 'home'. One picture was of a nail in a wall, a young boy had taken the photograph as it represented the spot he fought for every day on which to hang his shoe-shining gear, without this nail on the wall his family could not eat...

Here is a link to an extraordinary collaboration between those fleeing poverty and persecution and film-makers. Each of the participants were given a smartphone to film their journey, there are three episodes and the films were produced by BBC/Open University and Jane Merkin
